How it works & privacy

Your parent’s everyday conversations are never sent to your family or to us. Here is exactly what stays on the phone and what is sent.

When urgent words are spoken

  1. The kinguard Senior app picks out speech from surrounding sound and turns it into text on the phone.
  2. It checks that the voice is your parent’s and that it contains an urgent word your family chose.
  3. If it’s urgent, kinguard Guardian gets an alert within seconds: the words, the time, 15 seconds of audio, and a call button.
  4. Your parent sees a large button: “We told your family. Press if you’re OK.” Pressing it sends an “I’m OK” update.
  5. You call, see how to reach emergency services, and record what happened.

What stays on your parent’s phone

None of this is sent to kinguard’s servers. Our staff can’t see it either.

What is sent, and how long it’s kept

Only the minimum needed to show your family an alert is uploaded.

What we don’t do

Where data is stored

Your family’s data is stored only in the region where your parent lives: US data in a US region, EU data in an EU region, Korean data in Seoul. It isn’t moved between regions.
