FAQ
Common questions, answered.
The service
Does kinguard call 911 for my parent?
No. kinguard tells your family; it doesn’t replace 911 and doesn’t call 911 for you. In an emergency, call 911 first (112 in the EU, 119 in Korea).
Does my parent need to hold the phone?
No. The phone just needs to be nearby, about the same room. If it’s far away, it may not hear.
Does my parent need to say a wake word?
No. kinguard understands words like “help” or “help me” in a normal voice.
Does it work on iPhone?
Not yet. Both apps are Android only, on Google Play.
False alarms
Will a TV show saying “help!” set it off?
With your parent’s voice set up, most TV and visitor voices are ignored. It can still happen; mark it as a false alarm in kinguard Guardian to improve future checks.
My parent often says “this is killing me”
Phrases like that are Caution level, so they don’t alert right away – only if repeated in a short time. Your family can change the level.
Battery and phone
Does it drain the battery?
Heavy processing runs only when there’s speech, designed to last a full day. We’ll measure and publish real numbers during the beta. Charging every night is recommended.
What if the battery is low?
Below 15%, your parent is reminded to charge. When it’s nearly empty, detection rests and your family is told.
Detection keeps stopping
It’s usually battery optimization. Check the Galaxy battery settings.
Privacy
Are my parent’s conversations recorded?
No. Everyday speech is processed on the phone and thrown away. Only the 15-second clip from an urgent alert – and automatic recordings if your parent separately agreed – are kept on our servers for 30 days.
Can family listen at any time?
No. There is no live listening feature.
Can I install it without my parent knowing?
No. Your parent must agree on their own phone, a notification always shows at the top, and they can pause or disconnect at any time.
Billing
Is there a free version?
You get a 7-day free trial. After that, kinguard is available only with a paid subscription.
How do I cancel?
In Google Play, go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions and cancel kinguard. Uninstalling the app doesn’t cancel it.
How do I delete my account?
